Twenty-five NEC staff members have successfully completed an intensive two-week training program on network infrastructure and cybersecurity, organized by the NEC-LESP ICT capacity building initiative. The training, which ran from November 25 to December 8, 2025, was held at NEC headquarters in Monrovia.
Training Scope
The program covered critical areas of ICT infrastructure management essential for electoral operations. Participants gained hands-on experience with network configuration, firewall management, intrusion detection systems, and data backup and recovery procedures. Special emphasis was placed on securing the electoral network infrastructure against cyber threats.
Practical Components
- Local Area Network (LAN) design and configuration
- Router and switch management for county office connectivity
- Firewall rules and network access control
- Malware prevention and incident response procedures
- Encrypted communications for results transmission
- Backup strategies for voter registration data
The training represents a key component of NEC's strategy to build internal technical capacity and reduce dependency on external vendors for critical ICT operations. Participants will serve as focal points for network management at headquarters and county offices.
Certificates of completion were presented by the NEC Executive Director at a ceremony attended by UNDP representatives and NEC senior management.
