Code of Conduct

Political Parties Code of Conduct

The Code of Conduct for Political Parties establishes binding rules and standards of behavior that all registered political parties, their candidates, agents, and supporters must adhere to during the electoral process.

Core Principles

Non-Violence

All parties must reject violence, intimidation, and coercion in all forms. Parties are responsible for ensuring their supporters conduct themselves peacefully.

Respect for the Rule of Law

Parties must respect and comply with the Constitution, the Elections Law, NEC regulations, and all other applicable laws of the Republic.

Fair Campaign Practices

Campaigns must be based on policies and issues. Parties must not engage in hate speech, ethnic incitement, or defamatory attacks against opponents.

Acceptance of Results

All parties commit to accepting officially certified election results and to pursuing any challenges through established legal channels only.

Enforcement

Violations of the Code of Conduct may result in sanctions including warnings, fines, suspension of campaign activities, or in severe cases, deregistration of the offending political party. The NEC has established a Code of Conduct Monitoring Committee to investigate complaints and recommend appropriate action to the Board of Commissioners.
