Acting NEC Chairperson Assumed Office, Pledged Continuity and Strategic Reforms

Monrovia, Liberia — 2 April 2026 — The Acting Chairperson of the National Elections Commission of Liberia (NECㅡLiberia), Mr. Jonathan K. Weedor, officially assumed leadership of the Commission, pledging to ensure institutional continuity while advancing key strategic reforms.

His assumption of office followed a formal turnover ceremony held on Wednesday, 1 April 2026, at NEC Headquarters on 9th Street, Sinkor, Monrovia.

During the ceremony, outgoing NEC Chairperson, Madam Davidetta Browne Lansanah, formally handed over institutional responsibilities, including key documents such as a comprehensive turnover note containing financial reports and critical operational updates.

The event marked a smooth transition in leadership and reaffirmed the Commission’s commitment to stability, accountability, and continuity in the administration of Liberia’s electoral processes.
