The NEC-LESP capacity building program has expanded significantly with the introduction of new training modules designed to enhance the professional skills of Commission staff. The expanded program, launched in October 2025, covers critical areas including database management, electoral software development, project management, and digital communications.
New Training Modules
- Database Management: SQL fundamentals, database design for voter registration, data integrity and backup procedures
- Electoral Software: Introduction to electoral management systems, results management software, and voter verification tools
- Project Management: Planning and executing electoral projects, timeline management, stakeholder coordination, and risk assessment
- Digital Communications: Social media management, content creation, crisis communication, and public information dissemination
The program is part of the broader Electoral Technology Training Academy (ETTA) concept outlined in the NEC ICT Strategy 2026-2035. ETTA aims to establish a permanent training facility for electoral technology professionals in Liberia and the West African region.
A total of 45 NEC staff members across headquarters and county offices have enrolled in the first cohort. Training is delivered through a blended approach combining in-person workshops with online learning modules, allowing county-based staff to participate without extended absences from their duty stations.
