UNDP LIBERIA PROVIDES DIGITAL EQUIPMENT TO NEC TO STRENGTHEN PUBLIC COMMUNICATION

NEC HEADQUARTERS, MONROVIA, LIBERIA - FRIDAY, 18 SEPTEMBER 2026

The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Liberia, through its Liberia Electoral Support Project (LESP), has provided digital media equipment to the National Elections Commission of Liberia (NEC) to strengthen the Commission’s capacity to communicate timely and accurate electoral information to the public.

On Friday, 18 September 2026, LESP Chief Technical Advisor Madam Katherine Green, leading a four member delegation, formally presented the equipment to the NEC Board of Commissioners for use by the Commission’s Communications Section.

The equipment package includes two mirrorless cameras, wireless microphones, a shotgun microphone with boom stand, an audio recorder, portable LED panel lights, studio monitors and speakers, external hard drives, a softbox lighting kit, tripods, SD cards, batteries, reflectors, and a stabilizing gimbal.

Presenting the equipment, Madam Green highlighted the progress made through previous communications training provided to NEC staff, noting that the Commission’s Communications Section has become timelier, relevant, and focused in delivering information to the public.

She encouraged the Communications Team to make effective use of the equipment to produce high quality content that supports transparency, improves public understanding of electoral processes, and contributes to efforts to address misinformation and disinformation.

Receiving the equipment on behalf of the Board of Commissioners, NEC Co-Chairperson Cllr. P. Teplah Reeves expressed appreciation to UNDP Liberia and LESP for their continued support to the Commission’s institutional development and public communication efforts.

Cllr. Reeves also welcomed the recognition of the work being carried out by the Communications Section and assured the LESP that the equipment would be used for its intended institutional purposes.

She said the support would further strengthen the Commission’s ability to provide clear, timely, and accessible information on electoral matters.

Support for the equipment forms part of the broader assistance provided through the Liberia Electoral Support Project, which supports efforts to strengthen electoral institutions and processes in Liberia.

LESP is supported by the European Union in Liberia, Sweden, and Ireland.
